What you need to know

ECTS

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) was developed by the European Commission in order to provide common procedures to guarantee recognition of studies abroad.

ECTS credits are based on the estimated workload necessary for the student to achieve the defined learning outcomes. Learning outcomes describe what a student is expected to know, understand and be able to do after successful completion of a process of learning.

Workload is an estimation of the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, individual study, assessments) required to achieve the defined learning outcomes.
Generally 60 ECTS credits are allocated to the workload of an entire academic year and the associated learning outcomes. All course units offered in the Antwerp Maritime Academy have been allocated credits, which are completely in line with the ECTS credit allocation procedure and value scale.
